After my most recent meal at Holybelly in the 10th arrondissement in Paris, I was on my way back to “République” metro station when something in the street caught my attention: a grey shop façade with a yellow sign and big blue-and-white letters saying “la trésorerie”. What I found funny and odd was that the typography and the colors of the logo were the same as our Government Treasury! I really needed to know what was behind this quirky façade and…ta-da! A paradise for home decoration aficionados!
Being a very curious person, I got an explanation about the logo : the building used to be the main Treasury department in the 10th arrondissement and the new owners found it funny to play on the ancient vocation of the place and the fact that it was now full of “trésors” (treasures) for home ! The space is huge and consists of two floors with a large glass roof and a café where one can enjoy healthy soups, organic salads, Scandinavian smörgås and home-made sweet treats. The company’s intention is to sell useful and beautiful products which respect both human beings and the environment. You can find anything from the cutest stools to the most gorgeous bathroom accessories, and everything you need to cook, entertain friends in style, fix-up your home, relax in your bathroom and sleep well. La Trésorerie also sells online and ships everywhere in Europe.
I have visited the place on two occasions and I was very impressed with the huge but careful selection of beautiful products mainly from Europe (they select the best manufacturers from each country). No worries if you are on a budget, you will find something for you and your friends. I was invited to a Chrismukkah party last week and I had to bring a gift around 10 euros: I found a small oak cutting board with a very German minimalist design. Other things I bought: pastel-colored stoneware small bowls and a set of 2 aluminum trays.
